I see the Power checking has the same bonus but fees can be waived. It also has a 3.9% apr with some debit transactions. I might try that after I confirm if the terms are really the same or misprint.

One could easily find that out by freezing the 3 bureaus and apply.

Denied due to Chex after pending. No hard pull on credit reports.

KatyTX When you applied, what were your Chex counts in the last 3, 6, and 12 months? Did you confirm that they actually pulled your Chex report (they didn’t used to a few years ago)? Thanks!

I’m not sure they really care about Chex, because P1 and P2 both have a LOT of checking accounts over the past 2 years. And neither P1/P2 live in the counties specified; their online registration lets you say a family member is eligible. They did not check. Both accounts were opened without any issue. YMMV.

TW Did you have to talk to a banker to get approved? Or submit a selfie? Thinking of helping P2 apply, but she hates that stuff.

They initially put my application on pending due to Chex. Also asked me for a bill for proof of residence. I applied online. But I went in and spoke to a banker and I was approved. Good for you to get approved with no issues.

Don’t even worry applying if your Chex count is high. Recently I was in Dallas and applied in branch and got denied due to high chex count. They didn’t budge even though I told I opened different CDs since different bank has different CD rates. They simply denied due to high chex.

Doc_Liker Any change you know what your Chex counts were when you applied (last 3, 6, and 12 months)?
