[Expired] U.S. Bank/Fidelity: Get Extra 2% Cashback On Grocery & Gas (Max $25 Each)

Deal has ended, view more U.S. Bank deals by clicking here.

The Offer

U.S. Bank and Fidelity credit cards are sending out the following email offer (subject: <your name>, earn up to $50 on gas and groceries):

  • Earn up to a $50 statement credit when you use your U.S. Bank or Fidelity card on purchases at Gas Stations and Grocery Stores. Enroll by September 30, 2022.
    • Spend $200 or more at Gas Stations and earn a 2% statement credit per dollar spent, up to $25.
    • Spend $200 or more at Grocery Stores and earn a 2% statement credit per dollar spent, up to $25.

The Fine Print

  •  To be eligible for this offer that runs through October 31, 2022 (promotion period), you need to enroll by September 30, 2022. Cardmember can earn a maximum statement credit of $50.
  • The statement credit will be applied to your account within 2-3 billing cycles after the end of the promotion period. Net purchases are purchases minus credits and returns. Your account must remain open, have available credit, and be current (no minimum payment past due) to qualify.
  • This offer is valid for in-store and online transactions in the Gas Station and Grocery Store categories and will qualify based on how merchants classify the transaction. As Elan Financial Services cannot control how merchants choose to classify transactions, Elan Financial Services cannot guarantee a transaction will qualify. Only purchases for goods and services made directly with the merchant apply to the promotion.
  • This offer may not apply if your credit card has changed to a different type of card within the last 12 weeks or changes before the statement credit is applied. If you have any questions, call Cardmember Service at 888-551-5144.

Our Verdict

The 2% back is on top of regular rewards. On the Fidelity 2% card, for example, you’ll end up with 4% back on Gas and Groceries. Even with the bonus this might not be the best card to use. Personally, I’ll continue using the Freedom card on Gas for 5x through the end of September and I’ll continue using the Blue Cash Preferred on groceries. The offer could make sense if you get it on a U.S. Bank card which already has good rewards on Gas and Groceries.

Do US Bank Business CC’s ever get any offers?

Will be good with Altitude Reserve (as mobile payment) – 3x (functionally 4.5 if travel / RTR) + 2% makes an effective 6.5% return

I didn’t get this offer, but instead got the offer for 1000 points ($10) for paying a cable or cell phone bill.

I haven’t gotten one of these offers in quite a while, I wonder why?

the wording on this offer is kinda strange; does it mean you have to spend $200 in order to be earning 2%, and that you’d have to spend $1250 to max out each category? or that if you spend $200 in the category, you’d get $25 back, which is actually 12.5%?

From my reading, it’s the first version. Extra 2% back, but it has to be at least $200 of spend in the category, or they won’t bother rewarding you.

They offer these types promos regularly. It’s the first one, so not that good. Spend at least $200 to trigger extra 2%. Spend $1250 to max out at $25 bonus.

US Bank rewards show up with extended delays, but do seem to show up. They have sent out three waves to my USB Altitude – internet spending, gas/grocery, and something else which I can’t remember (and didn’t partake of).

I have found their RTR system to be increasingly buggy/cantankerous when one uses it in the official ways. Especially for hotel stays.

Which specific way have you noticed an issue with RTR’s?

I got this offer on my Elan MCP card as well. I’m going to pass on this offer since I got plenty of other cards that offer 5% on gas and groceries already.

Got this on my USB Altitude Reserve – should lead to an effective 6.5% back on groceries for the next couple months, not bad at all
