Update 1/7/22: Uber has sent out an e-mail to Uber Eats Pass members that have Eats Pass from the Platinum card saying their membership will be converted to Uber One at the next billing cycle.
Uber has announced a new membership plan called ‘Uber One‘, it costs $9.99 monthly or $99.99 annually but until 11/29 it’s half price for the annual plan. It provides the following benefits:
- 5% off eligible rides, deliveries, and pickup orders
- Unlimited $0 Delivery Fee on $15+ orders and $30+ grocery orders
- Priority service with top-rated drivers on rides and elevated member support
- $5 in Uber Cash if our Latest Arrival estimate (shown after you place your order) is wrong.
- Exclusive access to perks like special offers and promotions, and invite-only experiences
This seems to replace the UberEats pass. It’s not clear what will happen to existing UberEats pass members.
Was wondering if anyone on here who had complimentary Eats Pass through AMEX Gold/Platinum has run into any issues since the conversion to Uber One?
I don’t see this mentioned anywhere, but I have a Citi Merchant Offer for $9.99 back on Uber One (limit two offers), but only valid through 4/30. So basically one or two free months, depending on the expiration.
I recently got an email offering me $20 Uber credit if I sign up again for Uber One. I’d had it a few months ago (experience posted below) and I did end up getting the $30 credit on my account as well as the $30 coming off my first order. I may do it again, but will wait until right before the offer expires to sign up because they say that the credit will expire a week after it goes on your account, and it’s not a good time for me to order from them at the moment.
Update — I decided to sign up and got the $20 credit from Uber. But the pending charge just shows Uber. Hopefully it posts as Uber One and Citi gives me the credit. If it doesn’t, I don’t see how their offer can work for anyone. The $20 Uber credit is actually valid for less than a full week, today is Friday, and it expires next Thursday.
I just got an email offering me $30 off my first meal if I sign up for Uber One. That might be worth getting me to sign up. If anyone has done this, is the $30 discount only valid on delivery orders?
Oh, and I just noticed the fine print says the offer expired a week ago — “Max discount is up to $30 per order and will be auto-applied after joining Uber One and expires on 01/14/2022. “
Plus Free Trial, expires 1/28/2022 for me.
Yes, I got a followup email from them today with the 1/28 expiration. I had tried contacting Uber CS, who I could never get to understand the problem and kept telling me that there was nothing wrong with my account. Now that the date is correct, I’ll probably sign up to get the coupon.
PS if you sign up please post the terms of the coupon and whether it’s valid on pickup orders.
Update – I signed up, got the $30 coupon valid only through 1/28 and delivery only. It’s not valid on all restaurants, even some that show $0 delivery fees with Uber One.
Also, Uber CS finally got back to me and apologized for the incorrect expiration date on the first email and offered to give me a $30 credit if I signed up. I replied after signing up, we’ll see if they still give it to me, given that I eventually received a usable coupon.
Is anyone else pissed like me about this that keep advertising “better benefits,” BUT I was getting 10% off Uber Rides with Eats Pass (see related DoC post about this, up to 3 rides every month), and now I’m getting only 5% off Rides with Uber One. Really frustrated they think people won’t realize this, and advertise better benefits.
Exactly. I use Uber like 2-3 times a month and 10% off was kinda good for me. I don’t like this downgrade.
My wife used to have Uber pass and I didn’t. The restaurants that is showing as available to deliver for me was showing up as unavailable for her, because Uber didn’t want to cover the delivery charges. By just having Uber subscription she lost access to many restaurants in our area some even offer low delivery charges like 99 cents. Be warned.
Gold/Rose Gold card EatsPasses are also being updated to Uber One. I wonder if they’re gonna keep on changing your estimated delivery time as they take longer to find a driver, etc. like they were doing the last time I used UberEats
Have the Uber pass via Amex. Signed up a month ago, so 11 months still left. I get enough value out of it, via Uber/Uber Eats, to justify keeping it at $99/year!
Finding really limited value in Uber Eats pass given how inflated the pricing is and Uber takes at least 25% from restaurants. Better to directly order.
The real value for the majority of us is simply in pairing it up with the Amex credits that we have to use up. Otherwise I would go direct every time. I’ve had restaurants tell me several times (if I do pickup to save on delivery fees) that if I ordered direct it would be cheaper. I always have to tell them that I know and I’m sorry, I have this stupid Amex coupon book to go through.
Problem is the coupon book is kind of worthless since you’re paying so much more for the same food.
One of my local restaurants, have recently raised their prices in store but Ubereats price is still the old lower prices.
Probably nobody in your area uses Uber Eats so they haven’t noticed. UberEATS is dead in some markets
Just tried a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try forever, and the price difference from takeout using their website, or using Uber eats was crazy. Everything was marked up 3 or 4 dollars to offset all of the fees Uber charges the restaurant. Plus Uber charges the customer even more service fees even if you have their pass, which obviously they don’t tell you. I obviously ordered directly for pickup, Uber and grubhub are terrible.
Anybody found a way to get the discounted Uber One Plan ($50/year)?
it ended in november
Appears it’s long expired.
Got an email a few mins ago, says we get 20$ off from 3 uber rides, food delivery, alcohol or groceries, if we sign up for uber one I will be auto applied after joining by 12/15/2021, delivery only(ubereats), probably targeted cuz I got 2 accounts and only 1 got the offer Chuck
