United Making It Easier To Earn Status In 2021 For 2022

United has announced a number of changes to make it easier to earn status in 2021 for 2022. Changes are as follows:

  • United will deposit 25% of the PQP-only requirements in Premier members’ accounts based on their 2021 Premier status level

  • United will give bonus PQP for their first three trips flown in 2021 through March 31, 2021
    • Members without Premier status will earn 50 percent bonus PQP
    • Premier members will earn 100 percent bonus PQP
  • Requirements for earning status will be reduced as follows:

Obviously nice changes for anybody chasing status.

I have 1K currently, with the 3750 deposit I’d only need only 11,250 to keep 1k til 2022. Which united cards give you $1-1 pqp? Pretty easy to keep status with that card.

I know for the sure united club card does ($450 fee)…if one of the $95 fee ones does I’ll apply prior to qualification period.

I have a flight scheduled for August 2021 which I paid for with points. When I went to cancel it the other day, they wanted a $75 redeposit fee.

I thought that there is no redeposit fee anymore for more than 30 days out?

If you call to change/cancel they generally waive the redeposit fee.

They were so greedy when they increased status requirements, now eat it.

Pros: easier way to status.

Cons: have to fly United; make sure to have a very good dental insurance.

never a big fan of united but they’re the hub and sometimes the only carrier to the places I visit, so have to stuck with them. they tend to treat you better if in first class but not always. your experience may vary.
