Our Verdict
Make sure to compare to other portals using something like cashbackmonitor to ensure you’re getting yourself a good deal. These bonuses are basically an extra 3.33x miles per $1 spent if you spend exactly $150 or $300.
Has the requirements need to be completed in one trip? Or can have several purchases totaling $150 or $300?
Can be several AFAIK
Chuck – There is a very interesting promo which i just used recently from United & Marriott – united.com/RewardsPlusBonus – I had a united reservation and after logging using my united ff, i got an option for getting 1000 miles/stay (+500 miles if i am Marriott Gold/Platinum!) – I used it to make 2 reservations for the 3 days of my travel & after 2 weeks of completion of the stay – i got 1500 + 1500 united miles (I am platinum with Marriott) + got credit of nights for my stay @Marriott + my regular points with them (They are running a promotion of 750 points after 3rd stay, i recieved these as well). If you feel relevant, you can plan to put up a post on this.
Do gift cards work?
I haven’t tried to order a gift card, but it doesn’t look like they work based on the offer terms at the bottom of the page:
“Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles. Please see the MileagePlus® Shopping mall site for details on product eligibility and other restrictions. Please allow 8-10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus award miles to post to your MileagePlus® Shopping account.
