Avoiding Fees
This account has no monthly fees, there shouldn’t be any early account termination fees either as you needed to have the account open for a minimum of a year to be targeted for this offer.
Our Verdict
I know not many of you will be eligible for this offer, but hopefully a few of you will be. $300 is a great bonus, especially for existing account holders. Unfortunately we do not know what counts as a direct deposit, but I think $300 is well worth changing your employer payroll over for.
If you have the secure checking account and didn’t receive this offer, let us know how you got on calling the number listed (1-800-531-8722). This hasn’t been added to our checking promo list due to it’s targeted nature.

No dice on my end, but I use USAA as my primary checking account and have had DD with them forever.
I’ve had my USAA checking account since 2000, doubt I’ll be eligible.
I just called in to ask to have the offer applied to my account. I was told that the offer is “for relatively new accounts and that’s why I didn’t see it online or in my email”. Yeah, this seems targeted only. I’ve had my account since 2011, so I was rejected.
Just called and was told the offer was stopped for now.
I have a USAA Secured Checking account for well over a year. I just called, and the nice lady did research and told me that it’s only for targeted people because “the offer did not populate on my account.” In other words, if you didn’t receive the e-mail, don’t bother. To the site admin, you should update this post with this new information.
Not sure if this was posted but a key part I read was “checking account must be open for at least one year” I have a USAA account but do not have a checking account with them :/
Great offer though if there is no minimum balance you need to have.
