received notice overnight that this card will revert back to 1.5% cash back on 1/1/2023. Validated with 2 other card holders that they received same notification. Time to go look for a different CC with higher cash back

Just received notice that the Limitless Cashback card will end in April, and all cards will convert to Preferred Cash Rewards earning 1.5% cashback.
Temporary good news: USAA will add an extra 1.0% “loyalty” cash back through December, so 2.5% cashback will continue until then.

I just got a letter from USAA informing me that the 2.5% will be lowered to 1.5% at the end of 2022.

Just received notification from USAA that this card will automatically convert to USAA Preferred Cash Back this year, 2022. This is the last year of 2.5% cash back. I’m curious if it’s legal for them to change the terms like that.

This is great news! I’ve been using USAA as my primary checking account for two reasons. First, salary direct deposit has been going into their checking account to keep the Limitless 2.5%. Second, USAA was one of the few remaining banks that allowed you to scan checks on your computer and then upload them for deposit. They would also give you instant access to this money as long as it is below a certain amount. I used this feature a lot, as I get a bunch of small checks and for record keeping it is much easier to scan and upload than it is to take a picture of the check and use a phone app. The later required a number of extra steps to keep a record of the deposit and the former you had a record while making the deposit. USAA is getting rid of the desktop based deposit in September. Thanks USAA! They eliminated any reasons for me to keep them as my primary checking and I can now redirect those direct deposits in order to get more checking bonuses!

BECU and DCU both allow you to scan checks on a computer and deposit them.

Which USAA card is the “Legacy” card? are you referring to the “preferred cash rewards? or the “rate advantage” ? or the debit card? or the “signature”? Which one is the “legacy” card? Thank you

It’s not “the Legacy” card (not a name of the card). It is a legacy card — a card that was once publicly offered, but now is only available to those who already have it.

This post is about the USAA Limitless Visa Card, which USAA stopped accepting applications for I believe in 2018.

Curious if anybody has a card effective date past 2022 or 23. Had to get a lost card replaced and it kept the same cancellation month and year. Is that normal for USAA? Other lost cards through all of my other banks tended to come with updated and later effective through dates. Any info?

My card, opened 2017 has a 2022 expiry date. I have had several replacement cards over the years, most recently last fall, and it always retains the 2022 date. Amex always gives me a new expiry date but other banks like BofA, Chase and Citi will usually keep the original card’s expiry date unless it is getting close to the year of expiry. I see where you may be going with this though…I was surprised with this change after 5 years and I am praying they do not discontinue the card for all of us that got one.

Yeah Dan, you definitely caught my drift. Been more and more cash back #CashisKing outside of obvious set and forget point multipliers on bills as well as sign-up bonuses. With talk of the BofA Preferred Rewards program potentially changing, I’m not sure where I would go. Here’s hoping they keep it around!

Any updates on this front? My card expiry is mid 2022. Has anyone else had their card expire or push out to an expiration beyond 2022?

BofA 2.6% on everything without limits is better, so IMHO this card only makes sense if you can’t get Platinum Honors status with BofA.

Not that USAA’s customer service is what it used to be, but I’d give up ~$12/yr in extra cash back on misc spend to not deal with BoA on a credit card and investments. It also only takes one random event (e.g. a $70 fee on a lost wire that Schwab covered and I wouldn’t expect BoA to) to erase a lot of 0.1% cash back. That’s just my opinion.

Customer service is much better if you have Platinum Honors with BoA and is actually a plus because sometimes I do have to go in branches and BoA has a lot more. There was a 1-2 hour walk in wait at a branch and as soon as they saw Plat Honors I was first in line. Has happened multiple times for me.

For sure. It means everything to my time and even my psyche to have the type of phone customer service one can experience as a BOA Platinum when one is keeping a nice hunk of change with them and getting tax free dividends in return for the credit card use in reward redemptions and cash back.

One thing I have not experienced is “first in line” in the BOA branches, however. My status is not known when I come through the door and while I agree I shouldn’t be treated any different than others who have business at the bank, when my profile is noticed during the eventual interaction, sometimes I do notice a service “upgrade” in behavior, which can be helpful.

I really dislike getting to the point where I consider mentioning I can pull the funds, when an employee wants to drag out resistance to an unsatisfying level for just a normal request, like replacing a debit card that the atm retained. Then, telling me, I have too many accounts and maybe I should consider handling my accounts differently (like closing some of them).

Yes! I just had a random $36 charge show up on my card and the expected wait time was 1 hour and chat was not available. More and more I am liking AMEX due to the customer service and chasing the cash back goes out the window

So glad I got this card. The 2.5% works for just about everything.
