Our Verdict
Similar deal was offered last year as well.
Hat tip to reader Ann M
This says it doesn’t work with gift cards, but does it work if you shop through Raise and buy gift cards?
It did for me last time they ran this promo about a year ago. They also have giftcards.com showing on usaa shopping portal. You can buy VGCs there, but still have to pay a fee.
Awesome, thanks!
Not sure if it’s just me, but I’m also seeing an extra 1% bonus on their Cashback Rewards Plus card, for a total of 6% cash back. By the way, Commissaries and (at least) Navy Exchanges appear to have corrected their problem with the 5% reward for on-base purchases. (Marine Corps Exchanges didn’t and still don’t have any problem with coding correctly, as far as I know. Neither do gas stations.) That, in addition to the extra rebate on insurance products, might just make USAA a contender again.
Commissaries and Exchanges are notoriously inconsistent in how they code. MilitaryMoneyManual has a database started of how each base is set up.
What “extra rebate on insurance products” are you talking about? You just mean grouping multiple accounts to get a discount, not a USAA card getting a rebate when paying for USAA insurance, correct?
@Kafka I’m guessing @anonymous is referring to the recent money USAA has been giving back to its members if they have insurance with USAA. They have done a few months of giving some money back since people are driving way less with Covid going on. Amounts are online.
