[Expired] Use Google/Discover Virtual Card Number & Get $10 Off $100 (Targeted)

The Offer

Discover has partnered with Google to offer virtual card numbers, “A virtual card number replaces your actual Discover Card number when checking out online from the Google Chrome browser or Android apps, where available.”

  • Attached Offer: Earn $10 cash back when you spend $100+ with a virtual card number in Google Chrome, now through 1/15/2025.

Our Verdict

Easy $10 savings since this can be used anywhere. I’m not sure if the offer is targeted or available for everyone.

ok this is easy to set up on an iphone once you know the steps, which took me a sec to figure out. chrome on desktop is prob the same.

download chrome app, log into your google account

in your google account (I just did this in a browser), add your discover card to your wallet. turn on the virtual wallet option

in the chrome app, go to settings > payment methods > toggle “Save and Fill Payments” to on

now, it will give you an option to autofill your virtual number in any online cc form. do NOT select google pay to pay – this is what was confusing me. i finally figured out it’ll just auto fill the virtual number in any cc form. some websites don’t seem to work properly (giftcards.com) but others worked seamlessly. i used it on best buy and already got my gift cards!

hope this helps others!

Using google chrome, sign into your google account and go to your Google Wallet payment methods – https://wallet.google.com/wallet/paymentmethods
If you add your Discover card, it will give you the option to use a Virtual card. Right now if I click my card it has a toggle button next to “Virtual card to pay online”

After your virtual card is set up in your wallet, any time you start typing in CC numbers to pay for something (in my case amazon) it will list your virtual card with all the other cards you have saved. Click on that and it will give you all the card details that you can type in if it does not autofill. Then just use that info to pay like normal.

Thanks FRD. For some reason I don’t have a toggle button.

Try this then. Go to chrome://settings/payments. If your card is listed there, click the three dots, and you should have an option to turn on the Virtual Card if it is eligible. If that option is not listed, your card might not be eligible for a virtual card.

I think I am going to figure this out. Now I at least get to choose a virtual card, but when I choose it the message is virtual card not available now. I am getting close. Thanks again. FRD

I sympathize. They don’t make it easy to add. Some of my cards (AMEX) prompted me to add the virtual during payment on a website, but discover hasn’t done that for me, so I had to google a way to do it manually.

I didn’t get a “not available now” message, but if you are then likely your card is not eligible (mine is a discover IT for reference), or you can try again later and maybe it will go through. You could also contact Discover customer service I suppose.

Is this only for one purchase or can you have several purchases to add up to the $100? Thanks.

Celia 🔗 did you get this to work? Do you see a generated card number? I have everything turned on but it doesn’t seem to be showing any choices but my regular discover number. The email shows clicking a virtual number. I have been trying at egifter.

I got a physical mailer similar to other commenters that mentioned the $25 off $125,but my issue is I have two Discover Cards so I’m not sure which card this promotion is connected to since I cannot see any card number identification on the mailer.

If you scroll to the very bottom of the email there will be fine-print that has the last four digits of your Discover card number. It’s in the same line as your email address (“This email was sent to xxxx@xxx.com for Discover card account number ending in xxxx…”).

Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed you’re referring to a physical mailer and not an email. Sorry for the confusion.
