My understanding for this year is you can only use CVS, Michael’s, or Advance Auto Parts, and not UPS store locations. That’s a big restriction and a security issue but whatever. I chose a 24 hour CVS.

I did this last year where UPS store locations were allowed. Got my target gift card no problem. Too bad this started November 2nd, since I had a couple packages delivered since then.

All my packages are re-routed to a CVS store. I got zilch.

That’s because they don’t payout until late January or February. 😉

Note this deal appears to only apply for Advance Auto Parts, CVS, and Michaels; no other access points eligible.

UPS is far and away the least reliable shipping option in my area, but many online retailers insist on using them. They contantly misdirect packages. They “correct” correct addresses to incorrect ones, lose packages, return packages and deliver packages to the correct street number but on random streets.

I would rather drive to a central location instead of constantly dealing with this. My neighbors would too. It would save UPS a small fortune. But they want us to pay them $5.99 for the “service”? WTF? They should pay us! These GCs are worthless.

Not sure why so many retailers refuse to ship with more reliable alternatives like Fedex or USPS. Shipping to me via UPS cost BestBuy $200 last week and Costco online lost all of my business permanently. I wonder how much they lose on the neighbors.

The optimal words are when you said “in my area”. In my area, UPS is the most reliable and the postal service is the worst. Just like there are always going to be bad people in every profession, there are going to be bad people in every delivery company.

That being said, you will get no argument from me that this $5.99 fee is absolute BS.

Amazon? i dunno… but they must have a delivery driver shortage b/c if it’s delivered by amazon, it’s usually 1-3 days late from original date and they’ve even lost a couple packages entirely that never were delivered (and I had to reach out for a refund after a week of nothing)

UPS now charges to have packages shipped to a UPS access point. It is $5.99 per package or $19.99 for a one year membership. The only way to get around these fees is to set up to have all your packages sent to the UPS access point. I guess UPS is not making enough money off the pandemic, so they need to charge for something that actually saves them money. (It is cheaper for them to drop the package at the access point then have to make a trip to your house.)

Package thieves around the country are thanking UPS for this generous early Christmas present that UPS is granting them.

Please note that competitor FedEx does not charge to have your package picked up at your local Walgreens.

Shame on UPS.

Do you see the fee before choosing your ups access point or after you pick up your package, they make you pay the fee during pickup?

If you go into your ups my choice account and try to change a package to be picked up at an access point, they will tell you it costs $5.99. If you are not seeing this fee, do you have ups my choice premium?

Ah now I recall I think I got free UPS Premium from one of the T-Mobile Tuesday’s. I can’t seem to find my account type on their website though. Definitely not user friendly.

Before. They fully disclosed I would be charged and took payment info upfront. No funny games there.

If no charge in mentioned when you set up your access point change imho you should be fine.

Encouraging people to leave their home and go to a central location to pick up packages during a pandemic? UPS is clearly not thinking about the safety of its employees or customers.

I did it last year because they didn’t restrict the access point to only certain partners and there was one down the block from me. I meet all the requirements but never got my Target gift card last year so won’t be do it this year.

I think my time of getting 6+ packages delivered to my door instead of going somewhere to pick up probably multiple times, is worth well more than $10. Not a good deal.

Deals are always YMMV. I wouldn’t use this either, but my UPS pickup spot is probably the strip mall where I walk to for grocery shopping anyways. For people in apartments or in areas with package theft problems, using pickup spots is probably preferable anyways.

People wearing masks can steal packages from a house’s frontyard.

You are assuming they get delivered to your door, a bad assumption with UPS. Driving to a central location is easier than tracking down 6 packages in random locations around your neighborhood.
