Opened from OOS (MD) and with Chex frozen. It was only pending for a few hours.
Any cc funding?
I don’t recall. I just threw $5 on there with a debit card.
Just Applied. No cc funding.
Just Applied. No cc funding.
Did you use the nc/wolfpack link from Ethan/Eric or the one in the post?
The one in the post – Become a Member – Langley Federal Credit Union
Just closed accounts with them last month, am I good to go for round 2?
Most banks and credit unions state in their terms how they define a new customer and their churning rules. Langley FCU (currently) does not. So, if you try it, please report back. If it works, I have a feeling next time a promo comes around, the rules will be defined. Be advised, I wouldn’t put it past them to reopen your old account, which means you would not meet the “Must have joined after January 27, 2025.” clause in the terms.
Bank Bonus Bodhisattva
is this churnable?
I didnt see restriction on time in fine print
It really all depends on how they define “New members”. If you apply, there’s always a chance that they will re-issue you your old member #. If they issue you a new member #, you are probably good to go.
I would wait until
Ethan answers my question about Chex though as it’s probably not worth the risk for you if they pull Chex now.
It seems as if they’re not Chex sensitive, but are using Chex at least for identity verification in some cases(maybe only in NC)
Does this work if you are an existing member with only Langley Savings account?
No, because the offer requires you to “Become a Member” and you already are one.
DP: Account able to be opened in NC. No SP. Required Chex to be unfrozen. 8 Chex inquiries. Applied with address 120+ miles from a branch.
Can you clarify what you mean by “Required Chex to be unfrozen.”? The reason why I ask that is because they did not pull Chex when I opened my account a few months ago.
I normally keep my Chex profile frozen(like the credit bureaus) , and the application asked me to unfreeze my Chex profile before it could be processed further.
It’s possible that they have started using Chex for everyone. Time will tell.
Usually when a bank uses Chex, they use LexisNexis or Transunion for ID verification. YMMV
Ethan
I just applied and was approved today with my Chex frozen
On a related note, be VERY careful if you also decide to apply for a credit card via their “See if you qualify” link. That is NOT your typical pre-qualification tool, for it will cost you a hard credit pull to just “see.” Thankfully, I kept my Equifax report frozen, including when they insisted via email that it be thawed; they later explained it would have been a HP.
Given this, I’ll close my account in early March. It was a straightforward $250 bonus anyway: one $50 referral, and two $100 Cashback+ credits (I believe the second $100 were a mistake, but they agreed to honor the credit despite my multiple requests to return it, which was the right thing to do at the time).
Reps aren’t always right about how the system works and likely would have just been a soft pull. I am not going to test it just to “see” if a hard pull is done, but I feel like by now someone would have reported it happening to them.

Is there a reason you cashed out the extra $100 if you were just going to give it back? My P3 had three $100 credits show up, and only cashed out one because I figured they would claw it back out of the checking account, or maybe even close the Langley account. By the time I built up the gumption to do it, they were gone that very same day.
I wouldn’t advise you to take a chance on a CC soft pull, though like they say, YMMV. They were pretty explicit about the HP via email (twice) and then when I called them. I won’t hold this against Langley — except for terminating my membership — but they definitely haven’t chosen a transparent way to invite CC applications.
The chronology of the extra $100 is simply that I routinely move my rewards into a deposit account, as soon as they post. The second $100 in Cashback+ was likely a mistake, since the rewards went negative (-$100) one day or so later, when they apparently decided to take it back. Hence I was nice enough to return $100 into my Langley checking, and call them on the record to withdraw it. (Note: In legal terms, you would be under NO obligation to refund negative *rewards* — technically, they are not funds on deposit.) In any event, they thanked me but, elegantly, they ultimately decided to cover that extra $100. My rewards account was back at $0, and I kept my membership open with a potential interest in their credit card offering.
PS: Don’t tell M. any of this, or she might blame you for not moving fast enough on those extra $200! 😉
Ethan found a new $100 offer for Langley and talked about it here: #2010032 .
He wrote “may be region restricted.” but it doesn’t seem to be the case to me based on the terms, which I pasted below.
Here is the offer link: https://langleyfcu.org/wolfpack
“Must be 18 years or older to join. Must have joined after January 27, 2025. New members must deposit $5 into a Langley Savings Account to open an account. Offer available for new accounts opened online only. Website form on this page must be filled out prior to opening membership, online. To qualify for the $100 Cashback+ credit, members must: 1. register for and log in to Digital Banking and 2. Spend a minimum of $50 using Langley debit card within 45 days of account opening. Debit card transactions must be a minimum of $5.00 per transaction. The $100 Cashback+ credit will be applied to the new member’s checking account within 28 business days after all qualifications are met. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotional offer including the Member Referral program. Offer limited to one per member. Offer does not extend to membership opened in branches or over the phone. Present employees, volunteers, and affiliates of Langley Federal Credit Union and immediate family members of present employees, volunteers, and affiliates of Langley Federal Credit Union are ineligible to enter. “Immediate family member” means a spouse, domestic partner, child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, or sibling (including adoptive, in-law, and step-relationships). Offer terms and conditions subject to change at any time without notice.”
It actually ends up going to this link: https://www.langleyfcu.org/nc.
That’s the other thing that makes me think it’s restricted to NC or VA. That must have just been a vanity link to get into a new market. It’s still a good bonus because it doesn’t require DD.
It may not be directly region restricted per the terms, but they manually review applications, and may decline people outside of their regional footprint for new accounts. When I opened my account, it required manual review, and they made me submit additional documentation.
I also found this being advertised during BB game at my school, so it’s not exactly a well known public offer.
I noticed that it shows “This offer cannot be combined with any other promotional offer including the Member Referral program.”, unlike the previous $100 offer. That’s too bad.
$100 bonuses usually aren’t too high on the priority list to be updated.
Per terms, not allowing the referral stack is a huge bummer too.
It was posted yesterday, give me some time.
I received the Debit Dollar Days Rewards to my checking account on 2/10 and I wasn’t even targeted. No email or anything. I received $16, $1 each for 16 days of debit card transactions that I made to trigger the $100 and $50 bonuses without even knowing about the Debit Dollar Days. Same for P2 and P3 and they weren’t targeted either.
I tried searching and I couldn’t find the offer publicly posted anywhere. I wish I had known I was targeted, or else I would have maxed out the offer. Or maybe it wasn’t a targeted promo after all? Maybe I was supposed to get the email and I just never received it? Was it a fluke that I got the bonus? Who knows.
Nothing would surprise me with these clowns. Fulfillment of their bonuses is supervised by John Cleese.
P2 $100 bonus posted to Cashback+ on 2/15/25 after reaching out to CS a few times. I never do this but based on P1 bonus posting and others having issues and reaching out to CS, I opted to do the same. Ticket was opened the first week in February so I’m not sure if that attributed to it posting or if it would have posted on its own.
P1
12/29/24 – Opened account
1/11/25 – Debit: $5 Amazon gift card
1/22/25 – $100 posted to cashback+
2/3/25 – $50 Referral Bonus
P2

2/3/25 – $50 Referral Bonus
2/15/25 – $100 bonus posted to cashback+
Have not yet received either the $100 or $50 referral bonuses after fulfilling requirements on 12/18.
Messaged support and received this answer: “We do see that you qualify for the bonus but our system that distributes the payments is going through some difficulties. But you will receive your bonus by the end of the month.“
Make sure to check the CashBack section, for me they deposited my bonus on December 16th and I just noticed it and transferred it to my checking account.
