Update 11/4/22: Shopearly22 for 100% off purchase fees through 11/18
The Offer
- VanillaGift.com is offering 50% off the purchase fees on vanilla gift cards with promo code 50HOLIDAY22
The Fine Print
- Shipping fees as follows:
- $8.95 3-4 Business Days Expedited
- $15.95 2-3 Business Days Rush
Our Verdict
American Express is coding this as a cash advance and as far as I know nobody offers a category bonus on these purchases. Not as good as when they offered no purchase fees in the past.
Hat tip to GC Galore
How long does e-Gift cards take to process?
The one order I was able to get (out of 10 other cancels) was in 15minutes from the order placed email.
The cancellations took a while though ranging from 1hr-12hrs.
I placed an order on Nov 18 and it still shows not processed …
One minor nit though I customized my cards with my name, they shipped them with the default “A gift for you message”. Not the end of the world by any means but annoying as the name on the card can be useful. I have always gotten my name on prior orders.
Glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem — this is annoying as I like to use them at some places that have strict “your name must match your ID” policies.
It worked fine until recently.
This company is a crock of shit. Tried to order $10k saturday, and the order was accepted.
Next, I saw a missed call from some sketchy # out of Georgia 770-240-6100. No voicemail, can’t call back says invalid number. Google search traces it to Vanilla corporate. Today got a missed call from same # again, and 30min later an order cancellation email.
Calling them is useless. It’s some phone center in India where they have zero clue and zero info, and just pass me around from one idiot to the next reciting the same cliched reasons for why an order may be cancelled.
I had a similar experience. On the fifth, I missed a call from what was marked by caller ID as INCOMM. No voicemail, though.
Today, I actually did answer, but no one responded on the other line. Then I got the cancelation email.
At least you guys are getting calls to get these verified. Not defending them though.
My orders keep getting cancelled for no clear reason with no calls either.
1 out of 10 orders accepted so far.
When I spoke with CS, they just said try in 24hrs. Not sure if they had to unflag something or what. but just bad algorithm that is trying to tackle fraud or whatever.
Been waiting for a good deal to pay off medical debts. argh!
unless able to get free shipping, it seems that simon mall $1000 gc are a better deal. correct?
Likely depends on your liquidation options. Also depends on what cards you care about (e.g., Amex).
Tried $500 with PP+Chase. Got cancelled. First time user. Ordered Scarf Reindeer card.
Cancelled Reason: “We are unable to verify the order information you provided.”
Just placed another order for $200. Gold script card. PP+Chase. Hope it goes through.
They cancelled the $200 order as well. And a subsequent $100 order as well. Same cancel reason
“We are unable to verify the order information you provided”
I called the customer care and they were not exactly sure what is missing but told me to try again in 24hours. ugh!
so far only 1 out of 10-ish orders went through with PP+Chase. All orders were of different denominations $100-$500. I spoke with CS one last time and vented my concerns and they said they will make a note to my account so that it is escalated and someone will look into it and asked me to place new order in 24hrs. So, I placed an order one last time for $500. In 20ish minutes, i got a call to check if i was buying it for myself or others and if I was asked by someone to buy (good on them to make effort to curb scams). That is probably why me and lot of us are getting auto-cancels. They seem to be very cautious and most likely any new accounts will face the same issues i faced. the CS confirmed they will release the GC soon. yet to receive it though. but this explains why i was not able get lot of success with orders going through. if there were other deals I could do, I would have skipped it. I endured this so i can pay my medical bills due by month end at discount.
Thanks bought $1500 to max out chase PayPal quarter
as for using these cards (physical or ecard) they work at places where you do not get 5% or 3% back. I have used the ecard at my dentist for an implant and other work he did. (printed the card #’s. used 5 500 and 2 250 ecards/physical cards.) I buy them via Vanillagift.com and use my Discover mileage card for 3% back after 12 months. (1.5% now and doubled after 12 months) I also use a Santander CC that gives 3% also up to 600.00 back. Discover is unlimited cash back.
Tried to purchase $500 via PayPal (Chase Freedom Flex) and it got hung up in verification. I see a missed call from Incomm. Not worth the effort to play telephone games with them. I’ll just ignore all the calls and let the order cancel.
For those of you paying taxes, just a heads up that the cards are being issued with an expiration in 2032. PayTaxUSA and Pay1040 currently only allow payments with cards with an expiration up to 2031.
Not an issue w/ Official Payments
You can probably inspect element and add 2032.
Using inspect element and changing one of the dropdown years to 2032 does in fact work to get around this problem. Thanks for the tip, John.
Coupon code worked for me. Purchased physical card.
