Venmo Lifts $10,000 Cap On 3% & 2% Categories

Venmo has sent out an e-mail to Synchrony Venmo cardholders informing them that there is no longer a $10,000 limit on spend on the 3% & 2% categories. The card has the following structure:

  • No annual fee
  • No sign up bonus
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 3% cash back on your Top Spend category
    • 2% cash back on your Second Top Spend category
    • 1% cash back on all other purchases
  • The following categories are eligible for ‘Top Spend’: Dining & Nightlife, Travel, Bills & Utilities, Health & Beauty, Grocery, Gas, Transportation, Entertainment

That makes this card significantly more interesting. I think some sort of cap will be readded if I’m perfectly honestly.

Does anybody happen to have any contact info for Venmo/Synchrony to escalate beyond shitty customer service managers. Despite provided proof that my application was received and approved during the 6% promotion, customer service refuses to change anything on my account. I was given a big f*** you and a physical address for corporate escalation.

Guess I’ll start with that and a CFPB complaint? I doubt I’ll get anywhere. It screw them.

If you signed up for the 6% cb rate earlier this year, I can confirm that I’m still earning that well past $10k spent

There was a $200 for $1k spend targeted offer earlier this year in the app. I’m not sure if it’s ever coming back but they were offering up to that at one point.

Any word on if that also means cap is lifted on the 6% promo?

I wonder if they’ll be policing MS activities more closely.

3% is good, but I can’t see it being one to add to most of our portfolios, especially with the SUB being that low.

It’s good for utilities for those who can’t get the US Bank Cash+. The health/beauty category is also pretty expansive compared to alternatives. But overall, definitely better options.

What’s a better (over 3%) option for someone who does 40k+ of MS per month?

Got email on 10/11 for signup bonus of $150 for spending $1,000 in 6 months. Not sure if it’s targeted, but this is the public link for the offer https://venmo.com/about/creditcard/150offer/  William Charles

Looks targeted. Site says $150, but the QR code and in-app only shows me $100

For what it’s worth, I got a targeted mailer for the 6% promo a few months ago. The application in the Venmo app only showed me 3%, though the transactions have been earning 6%. YMMV but they seem to keep track if you’re targeted on the back end

There is a signup bonus of $100 for $1000 spend which I think could be better.
