The Offer
- Verizon is offering a number of rewards when signing up for Verizon Home Internet:
- $200 Target Gift Card or Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go ($349 value)
- Nintendo Switch
Our Verdict
The deal is made better by the following:
- Up to $500 buyout of existing Internet contract
- Go through a portal ($37.50 on Rakuten, share any better deals in the comments)
Cheapest plan is $45 per month but that requires an autopay discount and 5g mobile plan, otherwise it is $80 but might vary by city ($35 per month plan doesn’t include the freebies). At most you should be paying $70 per month with the $10 autopay discount, that would bring your total cost to $420 so not really worth doing unless you can actually use the internet or already have a mobile plan with Verizon.

Was able to redeem both offers today!
At first I was upset with the timing of seeing this offer because I just bought a Nintendo Switch last week for my son but, after looking at the terms and conditions for the free Nintendo Switch offer, I would need to wait 125 days (65 + 60) after activating service before I am eligible for the free Nintendo Switch (For new home internet customers who activate and maintain eligible 5G Home Plus or LTE Home Plus services in good standing for 65 days and redeem offer w/in 60 days thereafter, or by no later than 8.31.24, whichever is first.).
Maybe I’ll do it anyways and give the free Nintendo Switch to my other son, sell it, or give it to someone else as a birthday/Christmas gift.
Read it again. You don’t need to wait 125 days for the switch, you need to be in good standing for 65 days and on the 65th day, you’ll receive an email on how to redeem the email (last time it was an Amazon promo code they sent me). You’ll then have 60 days to redeem the item before the promo code expires. The main drawback for this deal is needing to be on Verizon LTE/5G for home internet for 180 days. It’s capped at 60mb/s and there is a data cap before your speeds are slowed down to 3mb/s. Canceling before 180 days gives Verizon the right to clawback the promo and charge your account. I don’t think I could live with LTE/5G internet for home usage for 6 months, but that’s a personal question.
Yes, you are correct. We have 60 days after receiving the redemption e-mail to redeem the offer for the free item. Good catch.
There is no data cap for the 5G home internet plans. Unlimited high speed data. There is apparently a data cap for the hard-wired home internet plans but not the 5G home internet plans.
It is too soon for anyone to have received the Chromebook Go under this promotion but apparently Verizon offered the Chromebook Go under previous promotions. Has anyone tried out the Chromebook Go? Is it a decent laptop? Would you recommend taking it instead of the $200 Target gift card?
Online reviews/ratings for the Chromebook Go are mixed. Some say that it is decent enough for a budget laptop but others complain about it being slow and having poor battery life even for a budget laptop.
been paying $25/month for Tmob home internet. No point switching I guess
just like the One Plan, they can pry it from my cold dead hands
I wish I had a $25/month T-Mobile home internet plan available where I live. The cheapest plan T-Mobile offers here is $50/month. I’m in Yorba Linda (North Orange County), California.
I went through BeFrugal and got $75 just last week.
Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.
BeFrugal is offering $75 cash back; however, just a warning — I clicked through their portal for a similar Verizon deal back in December. The $75 tracked just fine, but just weeks before it was supposed to pay out, the transaction was reversed, allegedly, by Verizon.
There is an ongoing AMEX offer for 10% back on your wireless bill that does work for this.
Four of the last six transactions with BeFrugal have been reversed. They pay out all the transactions less than a dollar, but nothing else goes through for me even after putting in tickets.
Highly recommend for people to click through Rakuten for “Verizon Fios” and not “Verizon Wireless” when searching cashback. Fios is offering up to $125 and Verizon wireless is offering up to $37.50 for the same 5g wifi.
However, my Verizon Fios rakuten link tracke, but only for $57… Submitted a ticket and waiting to see what they say. Still better than $37.50
It tracked for $54.75 for me. Did you hear back from them?
I checked and it tracked for the same amount as you actually.
When I reached out the CS was dismissive and said it’s probably a placeholder amount until the 60 day probationary period has passed, as per their terms.
I’ll reach out after 60 days when this predictably does not pay out $120 and ask for a courtesy adjustment
Yo
William Charles where my h/t at? https://www.doctorofcredit.com/contact-us/#comment-1808951
So I signed up for the deal yesterday and everything went super smooth. $37.50 from Rakuten credited the same day and once my account was set up (takes up to 3 hours) you can log in, scroll down, and under the “Make the most of your plans” see the 2 big rewards and the date you unlock them.
I’m currently with Xfinity and will have Verizon buy out my contract.
Almost did the T-Mobile Home Internet Deal ($200 back as a Visa gift card) last month and so glad I didn’t and waited for this!
Did you read the post? It’s at the end of the post. Thanks for sharing again.
I am SO SORRY! I have no idea how I missed that. I retract my above message.
No problem, thanks for sharing
FYI – Rakuten is currently offering $125 for this
No, they are not. DP: I just did it yesterday and was credited $37.50.
Yesterday is not today. Possible it’s targeted, but this is what I see on Rakuten
“Get the Nintendo Switch + a Target gift card with 5G Home Plus Internet. Exp. 4/20/24 – Up to $125 Cash Back”
avsterbone probably did not see that both Verizon FIOS and verizon are separate pages in Rakuten, and confusingly both offer cashback for 5g internet. Verizon wireless offers $37.50 but verizon FIOS is offering up to $125.
Look at my comment. It is specifically for 5G Home
I know, both the verizon wireless and verizon fios page on rakuten has the 5G home offer.
Has to be targeted. I’m looking in my Rakuten account and see no such offer.
Ok. I have figured out what the confusion is. On the regular Verizon Rakuten page it ALSO says “Get the Nintendo Switch AND $200 Target GiftCard with 5G Home Plus Internet. + Up to $75.00.” They key word is “Up to” because when I actually COMPLETED the offer I was only credited $37.50, not $75. This is because in the “Cash Back Terms” section it explicitly says “$37.50 Cash Back on 5G Home.”
Now if we go to the Verizon Fios Rakuten page it gets even worse. That is because in the “Cash Back Terms” section, CB is only awarded on “new Consumer Fios Data” which is NOT this product. So I would bet if you clicked through this page, you’d get $0.
Anyone is free to prove me wrong, but I’m fairly confident I am correct!
You’re wrong, I clicked through the fios rakurwn page and was credited more than $37.50.
I didn’t get $125 though, some random amount like $57.
$57? Now that doesn’t make any sense lol
The terms specifically say $125 for either fios or 5g home. I purchased it and will see if it tracks, but the terms 100% should include either for the $125.
Please report back. Hopefully, you get it!
On Rakuten’s Verizon Page (UP TO $75), the terms state:
$75.00 Cash Back on New Service Plans with phone purchase
$37.50 Cash Back on Bring Your Own Device
$37.50 Cash Back on 5G Home
$15.00 Cash Back on New Prepay Plans and Add-a-Line Activations
5.0% Cash Back on Accessories
On Rakuten’s Verizon Fios page (UP TO $150) the terms state:
$125.00 Cash Back on new Consumer Fios Data
5G home isn’t specifically listed under the terms of the Verizon Fios page like it is on the Verizon page. It’s likely supposed to be a lower amount and they just forgot to list it in the terms. As for whether they’ll honor it — who knows.
Home Internet is listed on the Verizon Fios page under Special Terms which also mentions a delayed payout:
Special Terms: Only eligible on new Fios or Verizon Home Internet purchases that have been activated for at least sixty (60) days. Cash Back is not available on TV, Phone, Voice purchases, or free trials. You will only be eligible for Cash Back after Verizon Home Internet service installation and merchant has confirmed your order payment has been processed. Multiple coupons may be used in a single transaction.
