Walmart Launches OnePay CashRewards Card

Walmart has launched a new credit card issued by Synchrony Bank called the OnePay CashRewards card. The new card has the following benefits:

  • No annual fee
  • Sign up bonus of $35 after you spend $75+ within 30 days
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 5% cash back at Walmart as a Walmart+ member, 3% back if not
    • 1.5% cash back on all other purchases

There was supposed to be a Rewards+ card as well with a $149 annual fee, but I don’t currently see that. Useful for the 5% back at Walmart if you’re a big spender there but that’s about it.

Question for you all – considering there’s a $300 One Pay Cash Direct Deposit Bonus going on right now, and One Pay seems to be the other way to cash out rewards (the other is statement credits to the new Walmart Card) – should I open the One Pay Cash account first?

Anyone in this situation?
Thanks!

Pre-approved but when I click submit, I get “We need more info to approve your application. Please call us at 1-855-696-1303 to complete your application.” Perhaps it’s because my transunion is locked cause those people have all kinds of website problem since they merged the separate sites. Experian and Equifax are unlocked.

You should give them a call, but they may want you to unfreeze TU thru the entire process, so they can take a hard pull after you accept (didn’t you thaw TU for the pre-qualification?). You can freeze both EX and EQ, that won’t be a concern.

Will this card give you 5% cash back on gold coins?

Put a few items in your shopping cart, click link above, then select “OPEN” in app and launch Walmart app again. Prequal there you should get higher limit.
For me it’s a triple dip 😉

I received $7k, $3.5k, and then again $7k all in a matter of minutes, and accepted the last offer. The best advice is to try at least a couple more times, and settle with an offer as soon as (and if) you’re fine with it.

Apparently if they give you the store card version it earns no cash back at all.

I can’t get my application to process at all. Prequal and regular app both say “unable to approve” but there’s no attempted credit pulls on any bureau. Existing OnePay client.

Anybody know if Synchrony allows product changes between branded cards?

I have a Synchrony PayPal card collecting dust because it got nerfed and also is redundant for me. Would love to product change to this to get 2% more at Walmart

Pretty sure Sync doesn’t allow product change, but I guess worth a phone call. When you say your PayPal MC “got nerfed”, do you mean you stopped using it because they lowered the cashback from 2% to 1.5% ? I have one and yeah, that pissed me off. So I just use it through PayPal and it get 3%. I pretty much just use it for streaming subs that take PayPal- YouTube TV, Peacock, Hulu, etc. .

Yes, nerfed meaning the 2% to 1.5%.

I picked up a different 2% card and I have the Amex BCE which gives 3% for online shopping, so the card is only useful for me now for the very rare things that have PayPal checkout but don’t code as online shopping

wonder if you have to use Walmart Pay for it to verify you’re a member for the 5%, or if it’s just a one-time linkage and can use the physical card

The application for the card is on Walmart.com, so they know if you have Walmart+. I have Walmart+, and when I was approved for the card it was added to my Walmart Wallet as the default payment, with 5% rewards.

Make sure you use the same email address. Best to put a few items in cart. Click link above. Then click “open in app”. Then it will take you back to Walmart app, select “prequal” there. You should get higher limit and it links & sync your W+ to OnePay.

Was happy with the Wally/Cap1 arrangement. I will probably get this card just for the 5% at Wally alone only to be used there. Esp no fee. Maybe they’ll welcome Cap 1 back someday.

The Cap1 card only gave you 5& the first year, and you had to use the Walmart Pay app to get that. I was happy to see Cap1 go.

Might wait to see if they have a boosted promotion (like better signup bonus) for Walmart+ week. Also is it just cash back at Walmart? Seems like there’s no real benefit to the Mastercard vs the store card (they don’t seem to offer any points outside Walmart), and there’s definitely more utility in the debit card for now.

I was approved for the Mastercard, and it says 1.5% everywhere else. But I’ll just use it for Walmart, I have three 2% cards.
