Our Verdict
Older datapoints indicate a hard pull to open, but seems to be a soft pull now. Should be worth doing for a lot of people even though it’s difficult to keep fee free. Will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

$150 checking offer. Big box on lower left with promo code “ANDREWS” at https://www.andrewsfcu.org/CommunityCelebrationDay
Expires 6/30/2024 and you need to maintain $500 direct deposit for 90 days
Just opened an account on 5/1 for the 6% checking using the old code(which was accepted) during application. Upon seeing this, I just sent them an SM to see if they can switch me to the current promo, which has the same terms as the last one. Crossing fingers!
Does anyone’s 1099-INT include the bonus for this checking account offer? I only have interest from my savings account and CD in my 1099
bonus was not included on my 1099 INT
I didn’t get a 1099 and am now unable to log in to online banking since the account is closed.
They only reported interest on a CD for me. The $200 Bonus wasn’t reported.
Anyone who’s doing the $150 offer know how often the dd has to be recvd? I know that it says for “90 days”, but any idea if it has to be just once a month, every 90 days, etc? Just realized that bc of when they opened my acct, I had to update my dd 2 wks later than I would have had they approved my acct sooner. So, it may be impossible for me to do a dd for the 3rd month.
Never mind. It’s 90 days from the 1st dd.
Can you explain what your conclusion is?
Do you have to make the first dd within 60 days of opening the acct, then have a second one within 90 days of the first? Or am I misunderstanding?
my interpretation is that you need 3 dd total and they should be in diff months.
1st dd should be within 60 days of acct opening.
2nd dd should be in the month after the 1st dd.
3rd dd should be in the month after the 2nd dd.
Ohkay, thanks. I’m submitting my application right now. If I’m approved, I’ll contact the institution to ask for confirmation on your interpretation.
Thanks vc for your help
SpeedyJr14, it looks like they’re Chex sensitive. You may get denied if you opened a lot of accounts before. 2 readers reported that they applied and denied. You can see these 2 DPs in the links below @ SpeedyJr14 SpeedyJr14

Chuck William Charles Are you updating the below link about the other ck offer? Getting an error. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/washington-d-c-only-andrews-federal-credit-union-150-checking-bonus
Thanks vc. Did you have any new DP? vc
I’m doing the $150 bonus that I linked to above, but it’s not the 1 that this page is about…
Approved 5 days after they reviewed my verification docs. Haven’t fulfilled the dd requirements yet. OOS, so I likely joined via ACC. If you haven’t applied yet, be sure to mention the offer in the Comments box.
Thanks vc for your tips. I’d like to see more approval DPs first. Because some readers said that they were denied after submitting a lot of documents. It seems like they became more Chex sensitive over time. We’ll see. I hope that you’d get the bonus without any problem. I like that you’re way more helpful than that Andrew fella who are off his meds…..
Yes, should be live now
Does anyone know if there is a minimum transaction amount needed to get the ongoing 5 cents per transaction? I know the for the 10 cents during the bonus, it needed to be $5.
Andrews FCU has a $150 bonus ongoing and expiring 12/31/23: https://www.andrewsfcu.org/Cash-Bonus-New-Checking
It pairs well with their new Kasasa Cash checking (6% APY for up to $25K), or Kasasa Cashback Checking (3% cashback on purchases up to $300 per month). William Charles
Existing primary Andrews Federal members (i.e. memberships opened prior to 11/15/2023) are not eligible for this offer. Previous memberships that were closed within 180 days prior to promo are not eligible for this offer.
That existing member not being eligible is new. That’s a buzz kill.
Indeed. I kept my savings account in case of future checking offers, but it looks like we’ll need to completely close our membership to churn. Luckily they closed both of P2’s accounts back in May although I only requested the checking account be closed, so I should be able to churn this offer with P2.
Andrews FCU is about to introduce new, free checking accounts powered by Kasasa, earn 6.00% APY on up to $25000 balance or 3.00% Cash Back on up to $300 purchase. Both need 1 ACH debit/credit and 15 purchases.
Since Hancom sunset the kasasa checking, I’m glad a new CU is using this, cuz the debit purchase can be completed by using cash app every month, which is pretty easy.
Are you using other Kasasa checking from other CUs? @_1689275
12/5/23 you can switch your current Andrews checking to Kasa checking by sending a secure message, and apply for new acct. if you don’t have one. I didn’t see the rate of 6% though, where’d you see it. Thanks. RobertL
They sent it to current members via email…

No mention of the rate on the webpage, but the email said:
The details of our new checking accounts:
My reply went to moderation… but the CU sent it via email. Will be available on December 5th.
Limit on the Cash Back checking = Maximum purchase amount $300 with maximum cash back of $9 per cycle.
I just got the email 12 minutes ago. Thanks.
Are you guys not concerned with eligibility for future bonuses by keeping a checking account open?
I got the last checking bonus even though I had a membership savings and CD. Had this acct. for years and years. I think the 6% checking is better for me right now vs. a CD.
P1 & P2 checking accounts are closed. Retained membership – savings only – waiting for the day a checking bonus returns or referral offer appears.
Just realized I never posted this:
Applied from TX on 5/30/2023 right before offer expired using Andrews code for ACC membership. Denied and received a letter a couple of weeks later with checkboxes for “Unable to verify identity/lack of requested ID” and “address/residence” marked even though I uploaded pictures of my drivers license. Pulled Chex and soft pull on Transunion also in the letter.
Chex 2/3, 3/6, 6/12

5/28: P1 & P2 applied
6/6: both approved
6/15: Fidelity xfer
7/15: Fidelity xfer
8/28: no bonus ($75), sent SM
9/8: no SM response, used live chat, told hard no on any bonus b/c 5/31 expiry
9/8 am: submitted CFPB
9/8 pm: $200 bonus credited by branch manager for both accounts
Crazy how fast they responded to CFPB. Wish it didn’t go to that extent but it is what it is. Only DD used was Fidelity.
Must not have been enrolled. You should have had the $75 within a day.
Yeah I knew I wasn’t after the $75 didn’t come. I just waited it out until the end of August before turning the heat up. Maybe CFPB still has some teeth after all.
I had to IM to get mine.
