Have checking account for over 15 years, it is a working account although we only keep enough balance to avoid monthly maintenance fee. The ancient account gives us a smallest size safety deposit box for free plus free checks. When interest is zero the $1K min bal to avoid fee has no cost, with rate at 5%, it actually carries a $50 cost for the “free” deposit box, and banking needs. Though I like Wells Fargo’s account activity alert system – its and Chase are among the best of the banks we use, so we stay with them.
I followed the prompt to log in to apply, then got Instant Decline?! Own residence, mid 6 figure income, Retired status… The only personal CC opened in 2023 was a Chase UA Explorer, instant approval. I also opened Ink Unlimited. So only 2 inquiries on my credit reports. And Wells Fargo instant decline me?! Can’t think of anything that causes that.
All my Chase cards both personal and business are instant approvals, albeit initial CLs sometimes are low but that aint an issue because Chase allows you to reallocate CL among cards.
The only reason to get this card is the 0% forex fee on a No Fee card after TD added 3% forex fee on its Cash card several years ago. Although with CSP and myriad of hotel / airline cards, the 0% forex fee is always available. But I thought a No AF Visa Signature and 0% forex fee is good enough to get it when there is nothing out there that I am interested in…
The good out of this unexpected bad outcome is, it does not waste a 5/24 slot. LOL.
Looks like the $1500/30k offer is dead. It now shows $1000/20k.
Added a note
Can we reduce the cash advance limit on this card? I was going through some of the old comments in another post and it looks like it’s not possible. Can anyone confirm this?
I just got a 40k point offer for the Autograph card, exclusive to Premier Checking clients.
Same. Visible when logged into app.
DP – I see this as well
Wouldn’t the $300 active or $500 be better?
“You may not qualify for an additional Wells Fargo credit card if you have opened a Wells Fargo credit card in the last 6 months.”
If you already have one from 2022, can you apply for another or better close current one?
Maybe this is the new public offer.
Saw in another post someone said this card paired with a WF Business Platinum can get 1.5cpp. Can someone explain how that works? I’m assuming the Business Platinum would have to be set to earn points rather than CB.
Thanks
Yes earn points on the Biz Plat (1point/$). You can transfer points from the Autograph to the Biz Plat. On the Biz Plat you can redeem points for 1.5cpp when booking flights.
I’ve had this card for a year now. Quick review:
Credit inquiry is HARD.
It is a great travel card since it gives 3% of everything travel, including transit. It will allow you to save a hard inquiry on a SavorOne card (if you were considering it) since the card also gives you 3% restaurants and 3% streaming services (which matches the SavorOne Card. The Savor $95/yr card, on the other hand, does 4% restaurants and 4% streaming). Of course the big difference is that the Savor card is MC and the Wells Fargo is VISA.
Card is shared login with your bank login, akin to Chase, BoA, et. Al.
30,000 reward hits your account quickly after you achieve the spending limit. I hit the $1500 spend on 10/21/22. 30,000 points were deposited on 10/25/22.
Initially the cash back redemption had to be in $25 increments. They have since changed that to have no restrictions.
There are cash back offers akin to Chase & BoA. It SEEMS to be the same network as Chase, but not as robust. For example, there is currently a 5% Dell.com offer, which matches what you can get on Chase (if you have it). But a lot of offers on Chase & BoA never show up on Wells Fargo (and vice versa, I might note). I have seen a few deals here and there which are quality – they routinely have the Marriott brand of properties at 10% cash back (Townplace Suites, Westin, Fairfield, Renaissance, Sheraton), I currently have a 10% Megabus, 5% Giant (of MD), Hilton 10%.
Like Chase, they offer gift card redemptions for your points, and like Chase there are ones which show up with a 10% discount. There are too many to list, but Apple, Home Depot, McDonald’s and Panera are part of a huge list of branded cards that are currently 10% off.
One cool benefit is that unlike most cards that require you to have the exact number of points for a gift card redemption, Wells Fargo lets you buy the remaining value of the gift card (on your Wells Fargo card) if you lack sufficient points. You need to have at least 1 point in your account to do this (I’ve done a dummy cart with 0 points and it won’t work). I’m not sure I see the value of doing this for cards which are NOT on 10% discount, but for cards on 10% discount this basically lets you buy gift cards at 10% off. There is a limit of $300 per transaction.

I’m rocking the OG Savor card with grandfathered fee-free.
Very thorough post. thank you so much!
Not really that new. They offered 30k for 1.5k spend in October 2022 as well. By the way, the redemption details you have listed here is wrong. On the Autograph redemption page: “Now available! You can redeem any amount in 1-point increments. Enter the amount you’d like to redeem”. So you can redeem one penny, if you so desire. This is the best travel card around for the following reasons: Visa logo, easy redemption, great 3x on many categories, 0 AF. The only drawback it doesn’t have any protections like trip delay, but really if you want trip delay you’ll want a Visa Infinite with a 3-figure annual fee to reduce the trip delay to 6 hours to maximize your chances of being able to use it.
