The Offer
- Marathon Bank is offering a $300 bonus when you open a Select NOW checking account and complete the following requirements:
- Set up a qualifying direct deposit
- Maintain a minimum daily balance of $2,000+
The Fine Print
- This offer is limited to first time deposit customers who open a new Select NOW checking account.
- May receive a $300 bonus with required minimum opening deposit of $500 and qualifying criteria shown below.
- The bonus evaluation period will be for the initial 2 statement cycles following the day the account is opened. A statement cycle may begin on the 6th, 12th, 18th, 24th, or last day of the month. When the account is opened, the closest upcoming statement cycle date will be selected as the bonus evaluation period to begin at.
- Bonus Terms: In order to qualify for a bonus, Marathon Bank must receive recurring ACH direct deposit within the bonus evaluation period. Recurring ACH direct deposit must be from an employer, retirement, or government agency. Person-to-person payments, incoming wire transfers, transfers from existing or external accounts do not qualify as the required recurring ACH direct deposit transactions. The account must maintain a minimum daily balance of $2,000 or greater.
- Determining the Bonus payment: At the end of the 2 statement cycle periods following the checking account being opened, we will review the account to determine if the bonus terms were met to earn the bonus. The bonus will be deposited into your new Marathon Bank Select NOW checking account within 30 days from the end of the bonus evaluation period if all criteria have been met. Account must be open at the time the bonus is paid and must remain open for a minimum of 12 months.
- Offer limited to one account per customer. Offer cannot be combined with other offers. Offer is limited to Wisconsin residents. Offer not available for customers who currently have or have had a Marathon Bank account within the last 12 months. Offer not available to employees of Marathon Bank. Primary owner on the account must be 18 years or older to qualify. For tax reporting purposes, the bonus will be reported to the IRS on Form 1099-INT. Offer and APY are subject to change, at Marathon Bank’s discretion, at any time without notice and other exclusions may apply.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
There is a monthly fee that is waived with a $500 monthly average balance.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.

“Only Certificates of Deposit and Money Market Accounts are available to open online.”. In branch only for this one it seems.
