In June 2016 we let you know that Barclaycard & Williams Sonoma would be discontinuing their relationship, Comenity Bank has purchased the card portfolio and will be issuing the new card. This card is now available. Let’s take a quick look at this new card.
The Basics
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 5% back in rewards for every $1 spent at Williams-Sonoma
- 2% back in rewards for every $1 spent on dining [Read: Best credit cards for dining purchases]
- 1% back in rewards for every $1 spent everywhere else Visa is accepted [Read: Best credit cards for every day purchases]
- When you earn $25 in rewards, you’ll receive a $25 certificate to spend at Williams-Sonoma. These expire 90 days after they are issued
- Free standard online shipping on eligible purchases at williams-sonoma.com
- Receive a $20 Welcome Certificate in the mail after you receive your new card (this is for existing cardholders, new customers will get the same bonus)
- 20% off immediately after approval (Offer not valid for gift cards, gift wrap, taxes, shipping & processing, delivery surcharge, sale item, grills or stoves including: La Cornue, Lynx, Kalamazoo, Memphis Pro, Caliber and Williams Sonoma Brand grills. Offer not combinable with other coupons, discounts, offers or promotions.)
- $25 certificate received during your birthday month. Card must be active and in good standing
How To Pay For Your Card
For whatever reason, people struggle to work out how to pay their credit card statements for these store cards. Comenity will allow you to set up automatic payments when the card launches and also to log in and pay your account here.
Our Verdict
The shopping cart trick does work for this card according to reader Jennifer. I wouldn’t recommend this card for most people, as there are much better options out there. The $25 birthday certificate is nice, but when you compare it to cash sign up bonuses it’s pretty lackluster. That being said, the new card is significantly better than the old card as that earned 3x at Williams-Sonoma and 1x everywhere else.
DO NOT BUY I opened a card to buy a large purchase ($250). The rewards are not remotely worth it and they try everything to NOT give you a discount or free shipping. I was charged $27 due to a small banking error. I immediately rectified it but was told that the fee could not be waived despite paying early and in full. I spoke to customer service about this issue and they refused to rectify it despite this being something that cost them no money. I even tried to see if they would reduce the fee. Nothing. The product I bought was definitely not worth the amount of time money and energy I have spent on this issue. Trust me, this discount for this card is no where near worth it. I will no longer be shopping here, and I can assure you, I will be telling this to every single person I personally know in the professional/televised cooking world. BTW They charge you $9 by the way to pay over the phone.
Hi allie why was your experience so awful. Why are you so mad?
I applied an received this card a little over a year ago using the SCT. It’s the store card not the co branded Visa. Just called in and requested a CLI. Automated system asked if I wanted them to process the request using cb information , I said no, they said we can process your request using your current income..please enter your income to the nearest 100. So I did and they they asked what did I want my new CL to be. I entered and was approved for a 2k CLI. So I spoke with a live person just to be sure and they confirmed my new limit and if I declined the increase using my CB information then yes, there was no hard pull to approve the CLI. Yeah Me!!
Hard Pull 🙁
Can’t get WS to for for nothing! Really want this one but it won’t work.
This card is a rip off!!! I’m enrolled in a paperless billing and there’s no tracking on your reward earned. It doesn’t notify you when you received any rewards certificate. I had a total of $75 GC’s in the last 3 mons and it wasn’t reinstated at all. I just cancelled the card.
They now ask for SSN and to confirm it. While it did say I was pre approved, I am not sure the cart trick works since they ask for full ssn.
SCT worked today 9/13/17 –
Hey – this worked for me on 8/31/17. Fico score is in the 580’s range and approved for $1,000 @ 24.4% apr.
24.4 not bad since your fico is below 700
Was just offered a No fee balance transfer for 14 month at 0% APR.
Simple way to make a extra couple hundred dollars for lowering a temp lowering of FICO.
Offered a whopping 21 month 0% APR 0% fee balance transfer.
I put this money into a high yield checking account. These 2 offers will yield hundreds to thousands of dollars in cash. Better than any sign up bonus.
You got that offer on the Williams Sonoma card?
No one who has an account with this bank cannot get anything done on line as their website is the worst on out there.
