Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
First class checking account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find an early account termination in the fee schedule
Referral Bonus
There is also a $50 referral bonus for both parties. Last time Wings Financial offered a bonus the referral bonus and the main bonus stacked. Do not share your referrals in the comments below, you can share them in this linked posted instead. Some discussion on linking the promotions here.
Our Verdict
Previously this was called Wings Financial Credit Union, now called Wings Credit Union. Last time they offered a $300 checking bonus. Keep in mind you’re excluded from doing this bonus if you’ve done a Wings one before unfortunately so that will exclude a lot of readers. The Platinum Plus Savings account earns 4.75% APY when you have $25,000+ and a direct deposit of $300+ so the savings bonus is also worth considering as that’s already competitive with the top high yield rates before taking into account the $200 bonus (you’d need to hold the $25k in there for ~3 months minimum which works out to be 3.2% APY annualized. Keep in mind how they calculate rates is a bit misleading). We will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Please keep comments to the actual topic on hand. People are subscribed to the comments to learn about the specific bonus, not to hear people air out grievances.
If you have a question I’d recommend asking it once otherwise it clutters the thread and peoples inboxes. As always, be the datapoint you want to see. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
So any plan to clean up the 20+ comments that someone left today? (Outside of the 19 repetitive “individual” questions about Chex numbers) Or, is Eric the only one allowed to leave “grievances” and opinions. There are two sides to every story!
I have to agree here — can you please delete the last several pages of nonsense? I’m not interested in who’s right or wrong, and I don’t even know either of these contributors. Like I assume many other readers, I just came here looking for data on Wings CU, but the endless amount of whining and spamming of the last 40+ posts has rendered a useful thread entirely dysfunctional. Thank you!
Now it’s Feb. 1 so I presume it’s safe to withdraw most of the funds from Savings? I believe Jan 31 was the last day to hold funds there but just double checking. Gadget 🕵️♂️ Bank Bonus Geek 🔗

The date you had to hold the $25K is in the terms and it depends on when you opened.
“Available balance must be $25,000+
-on 1/31/25 for accounts opened in September/October
-on 2/28/25 for accounts opened in November
-on 3/31/25 for accounts opened in December”
I would leave at least $1 in all the account(s) until the bonus(es) post.
thank you! you stopped me from almost making a big mistake. I was just about to withdraw but looks like need to hold until December
Until December…?
woops *April 1
wait what month is it again
I’m assuming you mean you opened in December. Autumn
Anyway, always a good idea to screenshot the terms upon opening, and not rely on DoC’s summary & fine print as it’s not always updated when an offer is renewed.
They dont pay out bonuses
WRONG!
Does anyone have a screenshot, PDF, etc. of the $400 checking bonus from 2024? TIA.

Do you have to keep the same amount of DD until the paid out or any DD until the bonus paid?
According to most DPs, it can be any amount as long as it is still active
1/28/2025 still waiting for bonus.
Opened 11/20/2024 with $1500 (also $1500 to new savings to help hit new CC spend).
Real payrolls for $1700 each 12/6, 12/20, 1/3, 1/17
Around 10 >$25 debit card purchases (“DBT” or “DBT PURCHASE”) including Amazon, inKind, and several utility bills.
I sent a secure message over the weekend, but no response here 2 business days later. It’s hard for me to contact during the day. I guess I will try Saturday during their customer service hours.
@Mike checking payout is 2/28 for accounts opened in November
Applied 10/16/24
Bonus posted automatically on 01/23/25, didn’t have to chat with rep.
Any idea if opening a Wings Platinum Savings account online will allow funding with credit card?. Already a customer where checking accounts were opened in brand on 12/30/2024.
It won’t. You can’t fund additional accounts with a CC as an existing member, and you can’t fund the Platinum Savings with a CC at all anymore anyways.
Thanks!
9/24 – opened all 4 accounts with referral, BoA Customized Cash Rewards $6005 funding (coded as purchase)
9/27 – $1702 Fidelity push to Everyday Checking account (transferred out a few days after each push)
10/17 – $1700 Fidelity push
10/23 – received $50 referral reward as a prepaid card in email
10/31 through 11/4 – paid utility bills 5 times with the debit card, over $25 each
11/7 – $1701 Fidelity push
12/2 – $500 Fidelity push
1/2 – $500 Fidelity push
1/23 – $400 bonus received after review ‘2024 SEPT PROMO-CHECKING’
This was the bonus that I was afraid of not getting due to lack of DPs. Bonus was supposed to post on 1/17 but didn’t. When I reached out via chat, they told me they only saw the promo code attached to the High Yield checking account and not the one I used to fulfill the requirements. I told them I entered the promo code for both accounts and took a screenshot as well. They referred the case to internal review. I thought my chance was slim with manual review, but the bonus came through. They didn’t ask for the screenshot.
Can I ask, was that Fidelity brokerage or checking?
Fidelity doesn’t have a checking account. The CMA is just a brokerage account with a debit card. All Fidelity EFTs use the same “MoneyLine” service and code the same way.
CMA. I don’t think it matters though.
PSA for those that are still within their 60 day account opening period, do what I did and send a secured message inside your Wings account dashboard asking if the OWNIT24 promo code is applied and active on your account AND ask which checking account it is active on. It at least can give you some peace of mind that you have it in writing and viewable by a Wings rep should a problem regarding this promo arise.
Commented here about chatting with a rep on 1/17. Never received any follow up, but the bonus posted to my account yesterday.
