Our Verdict
Fingers crossed you are targeted/eligible for this offer. Basically a free $10 if you are. In terms of what to buy, here are some suggestions (keep in mind it does say gift cards are excluded, but in previous times it has worked. Let me know if it does/doesn’t work for you in the comments below):
I don’t think a $10 Amazon eGiftcard works unfortunately. If anybody sees any other good deals let us know.

After you get your credit, wait a little while, then change back to a different credit card. Next year, you will get the offer again. I’ve done it twice already on the same account.
Also getting “The credit has already been applied to your Amazon account” and that it expires on September 30th, but no credit ever shows up at checkout.
Same for me.
Same. Does it work on anything?
Link just gives this message: The credit has already been applied to your Amazon account.
But no credit show up when I go to check out (shipped and sold by Amazon and Discover card selected)
Furthermore, after it says “the credit has already been applied to your Amazon account” it continues: “Redeem it on qualifying purchases by September 30, 2019”
September 30th was three days ago.
Same, even in incognito.
Redeeming this still worked as of October 1st. Perhaps because I activated before September 30th?
Same here.
Same here.
Email received, link clicked, steps followed, no bonus showing after adding various things to checkout.
same here

Double-check that you are buying something “Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.” I originally tried to order something fulfilled by Amazon and the credit did not appear, but ordered an Amazons Basics items and the promo credit appeared (I did get the email, clicked the link there and changed the 1-click setting). The credit appears before you finally check-out.
+1
Finally got it to work. No Amazon devices or Warehouse deals and no Amazon or 3rd-party GCs.
GOT IT THANKS DOC!
Got an email and hour ago and it worked!
Gift card does not work anymore.
Got an email with a slight variant of the Discover $10 off at Amazon offer –
Save $10 at Amazon.com
When you make Discover® your default payment.
Simply click above by 7/26/19 and follow the three quick steps to set your Discover card as default on Amazon.com.
You’ll get $10 off your next eligible Discover card purchase at Amazon.com made by September 30, 2019 or while supplies last. Restrictions apply, see below for details.
The email link resolves to https://www.amazon.com/adlp/discover1clickflag (new link)
However, it isn’t working for me since message says “Redeem it on qualifying purchases by November 10, *2018*.”, which is weird.
The email and the fine print say “Credit must be redeemed by 11:59 p.m. PT on September 30, 2019.”
Will try it again in a few days.
Keep us updated
I have the same issue. I received the offer, I set my Discover Card as my default payment. But I can’t seem to get a credit to appear during check-out. If I click the link in the email again, the site now says “The credit has already been applied to your Amazon account. Redeem it on qualifying purchases by November 10, 2018.”.
