Our Verdict
Will only work on accounts that have purchased an Echo Look as far as I know.
I bought a Look 3 years ago, Registered, tried code, didn’t work. Spoke to chat, chat rep told me there is no such promotion… I will try again as this appears to be good for another 3 months.
I purchased an Echo Look about 2 years ago on one of my two amazon accounts. I registered the Look to my second Amazon account that didn’t have the purchase. I tried the coupon code on the account that made the purchase and it didn’t work. However, it did work on the account that the Look is registered to, but not purchased on.
William Charles is right — it only works on accounts that purchased an Echo Look. That said, if you own an Echo Look — perhaps purchased used or received as a gift — you may have luck contacting Support to get them to apply the code manually.
I purchased the Echo Look, and confirmed by searching in the history of previous purchases, and my account doesn’t qualify for this. This is very much YMMV.
Vic Did you ever set it up and/or register it with your account? That may be (one of) the gating functions…
It was registered to my account at the time that I tried the coupon. I did speak to customer support and they said the coupon should have worked. They informed me to pay for it and that they would refund me the price of the device.
A few noteworthy updates:
1) Amazon Support refunded the charge for my Echo Show 5 after the device was registered to my account and Amazon confirmed the device was in my possession.
2) Today — about a month after the device was registered to my account — Amazon emailed me with the ECHOLOOK20 code, which now worked for ordering an Echo Show 5 for free (plus regulatory fees in CA).
3) My wife’s account, which the Echo Look was registered to after being deregistered from my account, is also now eligible for the ECHOLOOK20 code.
TLDR, if you register an Echo Look to your Amazon account, you may receive the promo code via email sooner or later, perhaps a month after registration. cc William Charles
