The Offer
Direct Link to offer (affiliate link)
- Amazon is offering $5 off a purchase of $20+ when you pay with Mastercard or American Express and use promo code GETFIVENOW at checkout.
The Fine Print
- From August 10, 2021 to September 11, 2021 (the “Offer Period”) when you visit https://www.amazon.com/b/23561947011, have a qualifying card to your Amazon Account (Mastercard or American Express) and have a minimum purchase amount of $20, you will be able to get $5 off your purchase amount by using the promotional code visible on this page to eligible customers (the “Offer”).
- Offer only applies to Amazon customers who have seen a banner ad promoting the Offer and clicked on the banner ad, or who have been invited by email or push notification from Amazon, and who then visited the Offer presentation page while logged in to their Amazon Account, during the Offer Period.
- This Offer is valid for a limited time only. Offer limited to one per amazon account and one per credit card. Amazon Business accounts are not eligible for this Offer. If you do not comply with any of these terms, the Offer will be invalid, and the Offer will not apply. This Offer may not be resold, is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and is void where prohibited by law and in case of fraud. This Offer may not be combined with other Offers.
- Amazon reserves the right to modify or cancel the Offer at any time.
- Offer only applies to orders placed on Amazon.com (via desktop, mobile browser or the Amazon Shopping App), excluding products sold on the Amazon Fresh Store. Products sold on the Amazon Fresh Store on Amazon.com, Prime Now or any other Amazon website will not qualify for this Offer.
- A customer’s Amazon.com order must have a minimum purchase amount of $20 in order to qualify for the Offer. Items must be purchased in a single order. Delivery fees and gift wrap charges do not apply when determining minimum purchase amount. The minimum purchase amount is the amount after any promotional discounts have been applied. Please ensure that you meet these Offer requirements by checking the purchase order details and delivery date prior to checkout.
- The promotional code may only be redeemed against items marked as dispatched from and sold by Amazon excluding baby formula, alcoholic drinks, digital products (Audible, Digital Documents, Digital Video Download, Digital Music Service, Digital eBook Purchase, Digital Software, Digital Video Games, Mobile Apps), gift cards (Gift Card, Gift Certificates, etc.) at the website www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/) (“Qualifying Items”). The Offer does not apply to purchases made from Amazon US, Amazon’s Warehouse Deals or from third-party sellers on Amazon.fr, even if “fulfilled by Amazon” or “Prime Eligible”.
- The promotional code must be redeemed as part of your purchase during checkout for it to apply. When paying for an order with a promotional code you will have to add any Qualifying Items to your Shopping Basket and complete your order via checkout.
- Offer is not valid if the order is cancelled or any item or item(s) from the order are returned causing the total order amount to fall below the required minimum purchase amount of $20.
- If you use the “1-Click” ordering method, you will not be able to redeem a promotional code.
- Delivery charges and taxes will apply to the full value of your eligible order.
- If any of the products related to an Offer are returned, your refund will equal the amount you paid for the product or content, subject to US refund policies.
Our Verdict
Seems to be working on many Amazon accounts, but not all, YMMV. Works for items sold by Amazon themselves, though gift cards and a few other categories are excluded in the fine print.
Offer wasn’t working for me on last week (September 3), but I tried again just now and I was able to apply it to my order.
Worked for P1 and P2, thanks!
Works for me. Thanks
Serious question – Why do they include baby formula as an excluded category? I can understand digital items or alcohol but baby formula?
Might be a legal issue. In some countries, it’s illegal to discount baby formula, the result of overzealous legislation designed to promote breastfeeding. Maybe there are states that do the same?
“Cannot be applied to your purchase” with $24 amazon sold/shipped item and amex selected. I guess that’s the “not eligible” message this time.
Same here but with $59.98 and MC.
Didn’t work on 3PGC, physical or digital, but worked on a toy
This seems so weird to me given that the Chase Amazon credit card is a Visa. “Please don’t use our own credit card to make a purchase.”
Struggling to think of anything “sold by Amazon” that I would want, since gift cards are excluded…
batteries, light bulbs – stuff like that?
Yeah, maybe. Depending on how their prices compare to where I normally shop. I’ll have to do some thinking, I guess.
Does anybody have an easy method to search for “sold by Amazon” only, to bypass the usual search mess?
Select prime, then in filters select four stars or up in reviews. After this, the filter for seller section will appear.
I use a Chrome extension literally called “Shipped and sold by Amazon”. Just search normally and activate the extension. Word of caution, every once in a while Amazon prices items higher than other sellers, even with Prime shipping.
Books, Power Banks, Car Parts, everything
Thanks for the tips, everybody. I’ve decided not to bother with this one. It’s frustrating enough to attempt to search Amazon when you KNOW what you want, even more so when you DON’T KNOW what you want to buy, but need to limit to “sold by Amazon”/non-GC only.
Worked for me. Used Point card for 5%.
No luck for me, though I’ll be on the lookout for the banner.
