Update 10/30/22: Deal is back at this link (affiliate link) for October 17 – November 25. This version has a $10 minimum purchase. Max 10,000 uses. Should be possible to do this deal even if you did a prior version. (ht Elliot)
Update 7/29/22 from Chuck: I just did this deal via a Wikipedia donation and got the $5 Amazon gift card; it took 10 days for the Amazon gift card email to come. There are probably other places that allow even less than $1. Easy win. Update 5/4/22: A reader reports this is still alive and working on all accounts. Update 1/29/22: Seems this might work even if you didn’t get the email. You can make a $.01 audiobook purchase with Amazon Pay and hopefully get the $5 Amazon gift card.

Our Verdict
Super easy deal and a nice reward as well. Think you need to have received an e-mail to be eligible unfortunately.
please enlighten me as to what folks here are buying at Amazon. I WAS a good AMZN customer up till 2 years ago. Their prices for food items online (cereals/can salmon etc) are thru the roof. How many TVs and laptops can one need? Best Buy beats them on just about every electronic device and Walmart and Kohls are better on most items. Also better on most items. I use to have 15 S&Save items, I’m down to 2…Total cereal and Nabisco Chips Ahoy..big box. I’m frugal and careful. Some stuff Amazon sells with their name is crap and their third-party sellers are mostly ripoffs and time wasters. PS. bought 2 smoke detectors for my home under some Motorola brand (name bought by some Korean company) with super great ratings. Impossible to install batteries, the case would not open, etc. They refunded my $ and told me to trash the items. I went to Rite Aid and bought 2 name-brand detectors and they were actually cheaper.
Amazon sometimes still beats or matches other places in pricing + shipping, but search on Google Shopping to check other stores. One recent example on Amazon: Google Chromecast HD Streaming Stick for $18. Sometimes eBay has better offers than Amazon, especially for open-box items or used items. Good luck!
I CAN’T stand when companies use this advertising with a LIMITED amount of customers in mind (They list the first 10,000) how do know if they have completed that number already? How do I know if I’m not being lied to even though they may not have completed their quarter and call it a day!!… They know to show receipts of this at the end!.. … They might as well say “for 2 or 3 hours” we’ll have this sale…
I found that the $5 has to be on something sold by amazon.com
I got the $5 from amazon pay by using the Byte offer. However, the $5 is not a credit but just a $5 off $25 coupon from Amazon.com purchases, which is useless to me. Just give you a headsup. 🙁
So I spent over 300$ with Amazon pay, got the email with the promo code, but every time I try to check out with it the box says “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.” I’m spending over 25 on an item shipped and sold by amazon, I don’t get why it’s not working…
same here. got a generic code in email which does not work. chatted with Amazon and was issued $5 Courtesy Credit
For whatever reason I couldn’t get the chat window to pop up. But I was able to use it to buy an micro SD card. It seems certain items like video games are excluded from being able to use it even though they are shipped and sold by Amazon.
DP: made Amazon Pay $10 payment to water utility Nov 3, got email about $5 credit Nov 6
William Charles Amazon has changed the terms of this promotion retroactively. The fine print now states that *using* the promo code requires a minimum $25 purchase (it did not say this a couple of days ago (I have screenshots)). In practice, for me this meant that a $25 payable balance had to remain on my Amazon purchase after any other promo codes were applied, otherwise the promo code from this promotion would not work.
Complained to CS and got an unrestricted $5 courtesy credit instead.
Correction to previous post: My statement that “a $25 payable balance had to remain on my Amazon purchase after any other promo codes were applied” was not correct. The issue was that the $5 credit could not be combined with certain other promo codes. If combined with eligible other promo codes, only the original purchase amount has to be $25+.
William Charles The title of this post needs to be corrected. The current version of this deal is for a $5 code (expires 12/25/22) , not a gift card.
Fixed, thanks
suggestions where to use it?
