Update 11/5/20: Deal is back and seems to be working for everyone now. $5 Amazon credit is good for any item sold by Amazon themselves (not those sold by third parties). Easy $5. Here’s a link (affiliate) for a short 3 minute video that should do the trick.
Update 9/28/20: Deal is now 50% off, free $5 has ended.

Our Verdict
With previous promotions this only worked if you hadn’t watched anything on Prime video before, not sure if that’s the case this time or not. Might as well check to see if you’re eligible as it’s an easy $5 if you are. You can find more Amazon discounts & deals by clicking here.

A promotion banner for this offer appeared on my app homepage. I’m currently on free 3 month prime courtesy of Discover.
Got an email about this offer. Watched the 3 min video by DoC. Will see if I get email confirmation about promotional credit within the next few days. If not, I can fight this one easily with my email confirmation and screenshots of the banner in app.
Got the credit a couple of days later with an email of the promotional credit terms and conditions. Shows in checkout and can be used on third party gift cards AND stacked with 20% off Amex MR Amazon offer.
It did not autopost, despite saying I was eligible. So I called in to get a credit. Took 20+ minutes on the phone, they had me email in a copy to [email protected]. I asked for a $10 credit and got it. So worth it in the end? I guess so…. Between this and the Cheezit disaster, I’m sure I’m on their crap list though!
A few days later… has anyone actually gotten this credit?
Not me
No email for me yet watched a couple different things I’ve been meaning to catch up on
Nope

Since this is going to take “a few days” to get a confirmation email from Amazon, make sure to take a screen shot of the offer activation.
Lot of work chasing $5 JMHO not worth my time but if I get it from activation and watching. Then great.
It is activated on an account with no prime. Do we have to sign up for prime now for it to work or are there and “free” videos we can watch?
From the small print on the offer page: “You need to be a Prime member and signed into your Amazon account to participate in this promotion.”
Nice, activated!
CSR told me this expired on the 14th of October. I wouldn’t hold my breath on getting credited.
Prime member, clicked the link says offer activated and I would receive details via e-mail, 5 minutes later still no e-mail.
So I clicked the link on the offer page, browsed movies, nothing I want to watch, so I’m just playing a free Prime movie on my laptop (isn’t work from home great)? I’ll check my laptop in about 2 hours and see what happens. Hopefully will be an easy $5 Amazon GC.
It says you get the email after you watch
do you really have to play the whole movie or just click it is enough?
You have to play the whole movie. The better question is whether you need to watch every second, or if you can fast forward to the end — don’t know the answer.
I watched a couple of 2 min vids from the “Shorts” category. No email yet…
The movie finished about 1hr 48mins later, no e-mail. I also checked my Amazon.com gift card balance, no $5 deposit. Oh well.
Activated, watched a prime video. No email.. Does not show up a credit during checkout either. Maybe you’ve to be watching a prime video for first time ever?
I’m NOT prime and I get….
“Your offer is activated!
After watching a video included with Prime, you can earn a $5 credit to shop at Amazon.com.”
I didn’t do anything but click DoC link and that appears. I highly doubt I will get credit.
How do you plan to watch “a video included with Prime” now? idiot…
Was that really necessary?
