[Expired] [YMMV] Citi Sears Spend Offer: Spend $2,000+ & Get 12,500 Bonus Points

Deal has ended, view more Citi Sears deals by clicking here.

The Offer

  • Some Citi Sears cardholders have received a targeted spending bonus. One offer was as follows:
    • Spend $2,000 or more from 07/21 (or the date you activate) until 09/18 and earn 12,500 bonus points

Our Verdict

One person who received this also has a 10x offer currently. Based on past promotions on this card the offers will stack (e.g spend will earn 10x and then the bonus from this offer). Obviously crazy good deal if you receive the offer. It’s also why this is our highest rated store credit card.

I got 18 months 0% financing of purchases outside of Sears Holdings greater than $549 + 5% back in statement credit. Max $50 credit. Purchases through 8/10.

is this 12,500 points TYP or “Shop your way” points?

There’s two Sears cards. If you have the TYP card, you get TYP. If you have the SYW card, you get a statement credit ($125).

You can contact customer service but the points are slow to post, almost 30 days after you qualify. I ran intro this also and i called them and they said it takes a certain amount of time to post after the billing cycle is closed.

It takes a while, but they always eventually post for me. The fine print usually says 2 billing cycles after the offer ends and that seems to be accurate. If it’s been longer than that you can contact customer service but if it just ended they’re probably just going to tell you to wait.

I’m not sure about online grocery but they dont count walmart/target/costco/sam’s club as grocery stores.Has to be a dedicated grocery store like a Publix/Winn Dixie etc,

Dang, still no offers on my card. Used to get the 10-20% offers on my SYW card all the time up until last month when they suddenly stopped. Anybody get this on the SYW version?

You can call customer service and request to product change from Shop your Way to Thank You points, if you get offers you need to use them all like crazy and you will get better and better offers. I stacked many offers and in a few short months I have 25000 points.

Yeah, I’ve been hitting all the bonus offers for the past couple months and have been getting more offers nonstop up until last month. Haven’t got any emails or mailers since then and I don’t know why. I got an email congratulating me for my anniversary month so maybe that’s somehow related but I doubt it.

If you figure this out, please let me know! I’ve tried many times via SM and phone call. I get the complete runaround between the CC, general customer service and TY rewards departments until finally a “this is not possible” response. However, I’d be okay with the 10-20% statement credit version of this offer too. I am curious though to try PC to the basic Sears MC, wait a statement cycle and then try to switch to earning TYP.

I doubt it if this card could be product changed to anything else .

Yes, I’ve tried more times that I can remember since summer 2019. I think they closed that loophole when they converted the card to SYW points. Even when I found a rep who knew how to do it, when she unenrolled me from SYW it still would not transfer my earn to TYPs.

I think they have basically shut that avenue down. no good datapoints in a long time

Yes it can. Just call customer service and they will change it to Thank You points. They wont change it to any other citi branded cards but they will change to TYP from SYW. It is definitely worth it.

You used to be able to but all the DPs i’ve seen lately say it’s a no-go. It seems like they changed something late last year when they issued me a new card and the email sender changed from “Sears Card Issued by Citibank” to just “Shop Your Way Card”. I always had the SWY version but I think they must have changed something on their end to cause this.

I wonder if you could apply for a generic store Sears Card and change it over to the TYP version. I’m happy with all the statement credits i’ve been getting but I could get a bit more out of it if I had TYP instead of SYWP.

$125 for spending $2000. Not a bad addition to the 10 percent back I’m getting in grocery store purchases up to $250 a month back.

Sadly the $125 is a one time thing.

Is online grocery eligible too for the 10 percent and is the $125 be eligible for online or has it to be in store

It depends on which offer you get, but Sears offers stack so you can have one purchase trigger multiple offers. So if the transaction codes as Grocery it will work for a grocery offer. If another offer just says to spend $2000 (with no mention of Online purchase) then it should work anywhere.

When you first got this card, how long did it take you to start receiving these higher offers? Were you putting a lot of spend on this card prior to getting these offers?

Same question here. I got the card two months ago and don’t receive any offer. I’ve spent $3000 on this card with only 1000 CL.

takes a few months, just start using it lightly.

It takes a while. I put a little spend on the card to do the signup bonus and then stopped because I wasn’t getting anything. Then I randomly started getting all these offers after about 8-9 months of doing nothing. It seems pretty random but once you start getting them they start coming almost nonstop.

they will start with lighter offers like 5x points. You need to take advantage of this and the more you use it the better offers you get. You can stack multiple offers like 15x points and bonus points for minimum spend. I racked up 25000 points in a few short months
