The Offer

Direct Link to offer

Check your Kroger (and affiliates) coupons for the following deal:

  • Clip coupon to get $4 off one Visa or Mastercard gift card.

The Fine Print

  • Excludes $25 gift cards
  • Limit of one coupon per household

Our Verdict

Should work on variable load $500 cards. This offer was sent out via email, not showing at the regular coupon link. Might be somehow targeted.

Rang up as $501.95, so the $4.00 off worked on the $500.00 vGC.

There was also a half price digital coupon on the MO fee save me 49 cents. that worked too.

Have a feeling you get targeted for these when you buy VGC from Kroger stores and use your bakers account. I always get one of these a month with an email that says Monthly money center savings. Had a 50% off MO fee as well.

Kroger always sends out monthly coupon packs good for the entire month. I received a paper coupon for $4 off VGC fee which is for targeted based on what you buy.

nothing on either acct. you may want to try updating your marketing preferences to see if you’ll get targeted in the future.

With a CFU, I am doing the $500 vGC in my Kroger any way plus a different digital coupon reducing MO fee

If it works for variables it will be good for Chase Sapphire. If only fixed value then it might be good to get to the next cashout level on Fuel Rewards.

Background: I generally stick with bank bonuses and don’t do gift card offers unless they offer a high return.

Question: why would someone do this offer? The money saved will barely cover the fees, if it even covers, and the cc bonus is minimal, no?

Hi Jack – Some folks are trying to meet minimum spend on bonuses or get multipliers on their cards for groceries

If you get your gas there they also give extra fuel points for buying gift cards

I do it for bills (i.e. medical or such) that I can only get a maximum of 2% on. So if I can get another percentage or two, makes it worth it sometimes.

I’ll probably do it because come next week, CSR offers 3x for groceries plus 1.5 redemption on PYB and my new year kicks in for my $300 credit.

right now I am getting 7x MR points for grocery spend with the 3 for 1 offer. I am paying all bills with my amex, but you better believe I am throwing in some MSing along with it. maybe a 3-4k a month over next 3 months. Will probably mix in with 10k a month legit spend. Sock drawer for every other card for most part.

CFU, CSR
501.95 x 5 x 0.015= $37.64 – 1.95= $35.69
Amex Gold, Schwab plat
501.95 x 4 x 0.0125= $25.10 – 1.95= $23.15
3% CB card
501.95 x 0.03= $15.06 – 1.95= $13.11

Depending on what cards you have, 3 mins worth of work for any of these amounts is a good ROI

Might show up in the coupons tomorrow when the new ad hits. When I was looking though, found a $7.50 off groceries when buying 2 Happy Gift cards totaling $50+.
