Some Slickdealers are seeing a promotional offer from Kroger to be able to redeem fuel points for a full tank of gas without limit.
This offer can be found under the Promotions tab. It’s only showing for some people, not most. Probably geographically dependent.
Typically, points can be used for a maximum of $1 off the tank; under this promotion there is no minimum or maximum, and you can use points on the whole tank.
For example, suppose gas costs $2.40 per gallon. Normally, assuming you have lots of fuel points available, the max would be to use 1000 points and get a $1 discount. Under this promotion, you can use 2400 points and get the gas free.
For example:
100 fuel points = 10¢ off per gallon of fuel for 1 fill-up at Kroger Fuel Centers or participating Shell Stations.
Fuel price = $1.849/gal You would pay $1.749/gal when you redeem 100 fuel points!
1,800 fuel points = $1.80 off per gallon of fuel for 1 fill-up at Kroger Fuel Centers
Fuel price = $1.849/gal
You would pay $0.049/gal when you redeem 1,800 fuel points!
2,000 fuel points = $2 off per gallon of fuel for 1 fill-up at Kroger Fuel Centers
Fuel price = $2.009/gal
You would pay 1¢/gal when you redeem 2,000 fuel points!
In Nashville this is a very publicized offer, I believe extending to all Krogers in the area. There was even a large billboard out on the highway touting the 1 cent benefit. Since I have a sedan with just over a 15 gallon tank, I plan on filling four 5 gallon gas cans to get the full benefit.
We always plan to gas up two cars at the same time for $1 off every month to get the full benefit at least once, sometimes two times.
Kroger in Richmond VA. I’ve been getting $1 off a gallon for a couple of years now x35 gal. The full price deal is great – but you still need to manage a spend (gift cards x4) that earns the extra bucks.
This completely caught me off guard when I got my 35 gallons of gas for 5 cents a gallon that was over a month ago since then I have filled up 2 more times 35 gallons for almost free. Love it. The secret is to load up on ebay gift cards when the 4x points promotion is going on. I’m at 750$ saving on my kroger account for gas savings and I’ve only started doing this 6 months ago.
This has always been the big benefit with giant eagle – would love for kroger to start doing it too
No luck on my Fry’s accounts (Arizona) and I have so many fuel points this month 🙁

We need to goad Ahold (Giant/Stop & Shop/Martins) into matching this promo!
When they allowed up to $2.20/gal we could gas up for free and actually shopped at Stop & Shop more often (they’re second only to Whole Foods in terms of being the most expensive grocery store in my area).
Now at most I just grab a few items if I’m already there for a GC promo, but won’t do a “full shop” there.
The most I’ve gotten in So Cal is 40 cents per gallon. I did get 90 cents per gallon in Las Vegas.
